Job Description

About Scale Media

For the past 12 years, Scale Media has been building and scaling science-backed wellness brands. Our portfolio of brands, including Live Conscious, 1MD, and Essential Elements, has grown to 9 figures in revenue while operating profitably with no external funding.

Our team is made up of operators, marketers, and builders focused on products consumers actually trust. We're investing heavily in data and AI to sharpen how we develop products and scale brands.

We believe the best decisions come from data, curiosity, and continuous learning. We value high ownership, candid feedback, and thoughtful execution. As a fully remote company, we lead with clear communication, accountability, and trust, and we give people real room to grow and make an impact.

Scale Media has been recognized as one of Forbes' Best Startup Employers, a Great Place to Work, an Inc. Best Workplace, and an Inc. 5000 company.

If you take ownership, think for yourself, and like solving hard problems alongside people who do the same, you'll fit right in.

The Role

This role will own the site conversion and funnel testing strategy for our Essential Elements (EE) brand directly, while maintaining indirect ownership of other portfolio brands (1MD, Live Conscious) through team management.

This is a hands-on, player-coach role. You will take full CRO ownership of Essential Elements, while building and guiding a small team to execute across the broader site experience for all brands. You'll report into our Growth function and work closely with Performance Creative, Analytics, and Development teams.

What You'll Own

  • Direct CRO Ownership: You will personally own CRO strategy, test design, and execution for one of our brands' end-to-end digital experience - PDP, checkout, subscription flows, post-purchase. This is hands-on work: you're in the tools, writing hypotheses, and driving tests yourself.
  • Team Leadership Across the Portfolio: You'll manage and develop two Ecommerce Specialists who each own CRO for one of our other brands. You're responsible for the quality, rigor, and output of their testing programs - setting standards, coaching on test design, and reviewing their prioritization.
  • Full-Funnel Testing Program: Across all brands, you set the prioritization framework and quality bar for the testing program, ensuring every test reinforces the broader growth funnel rather than one-off wins.
  • Experimentation Rigor: Ensure tests across the portfolio are well-designed, statistically sound, and learning-oriented, prioritizing impact over velocity for its own sake. This applies to your own tests and to the tests your direct reports run - you're the rigor check for the whole program.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Report on test results, win rates, and funnel performance trends for your own brand and rolled up across the portfolio, in a way that drives strategic growth decisions.
  • AI-Enabled Workflows: Design how AI tooling improves site testing from variant generation to analysis to operational throughput. Tools shift quickly; we're looking for someone who thinks in workflows and outcomes rather than specific platforms.

What Success Looks Like In year one, success means:

  • Improved site conversion rates and holistic performance across your brand's funnels
  • Increased subscription adoption rate and stronger AOV for the brand
  • Faster experimentation velocity with maintained quality
  • Higher test win rate and clearer learning capture
  • A stronger working relationship with Growth and Performance Creative on brand-level test prioritization and execution
  • AI-enabled workflows that meaningfully improve testing production and analysis speed

What We're Looking For

  • DTC CRO Experience: You've run high-volume site testing and growth programs at a DTC brand. You understand brand-level funnel dynamics, LP design, conversion drivers, and what good test design looks like.
  • Player-coach mindset. You're equally comfortable doing the work yourself and leading a small team doing adjacent work. You don't see hands-on execution and team leadership as a trade-off.
  • Strong Analytical Instincts: You're comfortable with funnel data, test statistics, and the difference between a real result and noise. You know how to design a test to produce a confident answer.
  • Systems Thinking at the Program Level: You can build a brand testing program that scales, with clear prioritization, consistent quality, and learnings that compound.
  • AI Fluency at the Workflow Level: You design AI-enabled workflows using whatever tools fit the job and evolve them as the tooling shifts.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You partner well with Growth, Performance Creative, and Development without creating unnecessary process overhead.
  • 4–7 Years of Relevant Experience: Strong backgrounds include:
    • CRO leads managing brand portfolios or dedicated DTC brands
    • Site optimization specialists from high-growth consumer companies
    • Growth marketing managers with deep testing backgrounds
    • Experience managing junior testers or analysts
    • Familiarity with site testing tools (Optimizely, VWO, Intelligems, etc.)

Preferred, But Not Required

  • Experience in supplements, wellness, beauty, or consumer subscription businesses
  • Familiarity with subscription DTC funnels
  • Experience with the Shopify platform
