Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Valid United States passport, or a valid passport with authorisation to work in and re-enter the United States. Meet all FAA requirements to carry passengers for two years from the date of hire. Licences & Qualifications FCC Radiotelephone Operator Permit. Current FAA First Class medical certificate. Appropriate FAA pilot certificates for obtaining upgrade-qualifying flight hours. Preferred: type rating in a Part 25 aircraft. Experience 2,000 hours of total flight time. 500 to 949 FAR Part 121.436(a) upgrade-qualifying flight hours. Preferred: current employment in a pilot position. Captain pay Hourly wage scale, years 1 to 10 (rates effective 29 June 2023 / 29 June 2024): year 1 $150.00 / $153.75; year 2 $153.75 / $157.50; year 3 $157.50 / $161.25; year 4 $161.25 / $165.00; year 5 $165.00 / $168.75; year 6 $168.75 / $172.50; year 7 $172.50 / $176.25; year 8 $176.25 / $180.00; year 9 $180.00 / $183.75; year 10 $183.75 / $187.50. Hourly wage scale, years 11 to 20: year 11 $187.50 / $191.25; year 12 $191.25 / $195.00; year 13 $195.00 / $198.75; year 14 $198.75 / $202.50; year 15 $202.50 / $206.25; year 16 $206.25 / $210.00; year 17 $210.00 / $213.75; year 18 $213.75 / $217.50; years 19 and 20 $217.50 / $221.25. Captains flow to mainline after five years of service, or are paid top of scale until they flow. Insurance and retirement Medical insurance plan with a zero-dollar deductible; the employer pays 67% of the cost for the employee, and prescription and vision cover are included. Additional lower-cost plans are available. Dental insurance available with no-cost preventative care. 100% company-paid life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment cover. 100% company-paid short- and long-term disability cover. 401(k) available with a company contribution of 4% after one year of service. Schedule and other benefits Commuter hotel rooms: 6 per quarter at hub domiciles, 4 per month at non-hub domiciles. Training at the American Airlines Training Center in Charlotte. 100 percent trip cancellation and deadhead pay. Bid on crew base assignments based on vacancies and seniority; long call reserve available. 4-hour minimum day guarantee and 12 minimum days off per month. Additional Information Captain upgrade: after 2,500 total hours and 1,000 hours of Part 121.436 qualifying time. Pilots with 750 hours of qualifying FAR 121.436 flight time are paid as a Captain, subject to verification.
